village tavern.
today my lovely friend joshua and i tried out the village tavern, conveniently located across from jamie’s work at prive. i have eaten at most of the restaurants over there, and all of them have let me down. so, i had relatively low expectations for this visit.
the restaurant looks like your typical chain steakhouse, with a little patio area where we sat. i ordered the marinated rainbow trout, served with rice and veggies, and also a garden salad. the salad was pretty standard, but a good size and the balsamic dressing was very tasty. the fish was surprisingly good as well, with a very distinct soy marinade on it. the rice was good, the veggies were ok. they were cooked longer than i liked, making them soggy, but they were alright. josh was happy with his chili burger as well, and the french fry i swiped was crispy and delicious.
our server was nice and polite, if mildly boring. but he was good, and overall i was pretty happy with my experience. none of the food was something i would necessarily crave, but it’s nice to know not everything in that area is completely awful.
EDIT: now closed.
