carlos and charlie's.
i am a complete slacker lately, aren’t i? well let’s do this.
my brother and i were bored and wanted something other than our normal hooters trip. i mean, where else classy can a brother and sister eat? we opted for carlos and charlie’s, a new mexican place in lake mary. it’s halfway between our houses, we like mexican food, and we were hungry. seemed perfect.
it’s...

310 park south.
chris and i went for lunch the other day to 310 park south. he loves their veggie portobello sandwich, and i had never been. it’s really a cute place, the wait staff knows their stuff for sure, and there is indoor or outdoor seating. i drank pink lemonade (classy drink for a classy lady), and ordered the turkey/brie wrap with alfalfa sprouts. so good! it’s really well priced for the...
witiki.
i don’t really eat on wall st too often. the food is usually pretty awful and the crowd even worse. however, i met up with my lady ballers a week or so ago for an orlando magic watch party and i decided to try the food.
first, i had a bite of jamies spinach dip and was immediately underwhelmed. it wasn’t bad, but certainly nothing very good. eh. for myself, i got this starter that...

my favorites.
since i’ve been slightly slacking off on eating new food lately, i thought i’d post about a few of my orlando favorites.
shin.
near downtown, corner of orange ave and park lake. best japanese food i think i’ve ever had. the sushi is incredible. do yourself a favor and try the white tuna tataki. your world will change immensely.
ravenous pig.
also on orange ave, but down in...
does anyone have any suggestions on where i should eat here in orlando?
sanctuary diner.
ah, fifi’s bistro. someone finally realized you kind of sucked and decided to switch it up a bit. thank god. no more brown omelettes with nothing in them. jamie and i headed down to sanctuary this afternoon so we could try a little something new. the decor is simple but nice, music still sucks, some of the tables are way too close together, service was good. i tried the soup of the day,...
the loving hut.
ok, let me be honest. i was a little scared to eat at the loving hut. not because it’s vegan. obviously not because it was new. but more because of the weird stories i heard about the cult-ish owners. apparently, there is a tv station called supreme master tv that very strongly promotes living an all-vegan/organic lifestyle. props to those that do it, but it’s not really something...

first watch.
to be honest, i don’t know why i waited so long to try first watch. it is very conveniently located across the street from work, but after working there almost a year, i still hadn’t given it a shot.
finally, my friend lori and i went for lunch a few days ago. she had been there before, but was more than happy to go again.
the service was friendly, the atmosphere casual. my first...
citrus club.
i have a few posts to make, but this one is most exciting!
i had the honor and pleasure of going to dinner at members only restaurant citrus club in downtown orlando. one of my very best friends is a cook there, and his parents were in town. vip service is what i’m talking about.
first of all, i love getting dressed up. i don’t get to do it much, since work requires me to wear...
green day cafe.
this is a fairly new place down lee road past i4. kaitlin and i decided to try it out one day when we were feeling a little crazy. it’s mainly for lunch customers, i believe they close at 8. they have a drive through, which is awesome, and it’s super healthy. i have since been back, and it’s still great. everything they have, you can get as a salad or a wrap. when it comes to...
puerto rico edition?
here’s what i can say about food in puerto rico: i love plantains. i ate them every day i was there, in one form or another. mofungo, tostones, pinonones, stuffed in chicken… the possibilities are endless. i love them so much, kaitlin and i got matching plantain tattoos while we were there.
the food was incredible there, for the most part. pinones had one of our two favorite meals,...
atlanta edition.
i know i’m a little late on this, but my work is the host of the florida film festival, and i’ve been really busy. however, i will say that i went to atlanta for the weekend of april 20th for possibly the last ryan adams and the cardinals performance ever. we’ll see. it was fantastic, but that’s for another blog. let’s talk about food.
all in one day, i had two...

el bodegon.
i would like to start this off by saying, i may have found my current favorite orlando restaurant.
el bodegon is a spanish tapas restaurant on 17-92 right next to rocco’s italian grille. i have been wanting to try it out for a while, and i finally made it a point to do so. i’m always willing to try somewhere that says spanish tapas on the sign!
jamie and i decided to share a lot of...
graffiti junktion.
last friday was a good day. i didn’t have to work, we had tickets to see the magic whoop up on the nets, i won free lucero tickets, i bought ridiculous stuff at thrift stores, and i got to go to dinner with jamie, soorya, and josh. graffiti junktion is a new restaurant in thornton park, right by dexters and burtons. i heard the decor was ridiculous but the food was good, and i’m always...
singh's roti shop.
if you travel down washington far enough, you will find singh’s. i had never really noticed it before, i ate there a couple days ago at a friends reccomendation. i walked in and the first thing i noticed was that it was very busy (a good sign), and hotter inside than it was outside (a bad sign). the decor is strangely pieced together, with shoved together tables, a giant chandelier, and a...

shakera's.
so, the adventurous side of us took over yesterday, as we headed out to silver star to try out shakera’s, a west indian/caribbean eatery that kaitlin has been wanting to experience. will and i both got the jerk chicken, rice, and beans. i also got a potato pie, which is basically a pastry filled with mashed potatoes. very tasty. everything was pretty dang spicy, we all had a little case of...
village tavern.
today my lovely friend joshua and i tried out the village tavern, conveniently located across from jamie’s work at prive. i have eaten at most of the restaurants over there, and all of them have let me down. so, i had relatively low expectations for this visit.
the restaurant looks like your typical chain steakhouse, with a little patio area where we sat. i ordered the marinated rainbow...
arepas and more.
jamie and i stopped in at this little tiny restaurant on a whim the other day. it’s located in a plaza on bumby about a block or two up from pom pom’s. the prices are right, the portions are pretty sizable, and it is a delicious treat. jamie and i both got the roasted pork with onions, black beans, and rice. i also got cheese arepas, and jamie got tostones. i seriously loved it. the...
christo's.
i’ve eaten here a million times. but i still love its ultimate diner-ness. i just wanted to say i just rode bikes there and back to eliminate the fact that i ate a bacon cheeseburger with an over medium egg on it and french fries. i’m so full.
cecil's bbq.
oh, cecil’s. you won my heart. everything about you is fantastic. i’m so glad i finally ate there. i had the pulled pork, texas toast, jalapeno mashed potatoes, and collard greens. john got beef brisket, sausage, toast, bbq beans, and fried okra. i kid you not, i loved everything. ever since i was a kid i hated baked beans, but these were ridiculously good. i thought nothing could...

pinones en orlando.
i would like to take a moment to thank john for bringing me here. it’s my favorite new thing, and i hope everyone tries it one day. it’s a box truck at the corner of conway and curry ford in a sunoco parking lot, and it’s all kinds of heaven. i got the mofongo relleno with fried pork tips. mofongo is basically smashed fried plantains, a traditional puerto rican dish. it was...
flea world.
please do us all a favor and never eat at flea world. trust me, you will regret it. they microwave the cheeseburgers and have worse chicken fingers than mcdonald’s.
i did manage to buy an amazing bike for $75 though. i also made up for the bad food by eating at uncle jones’ bbq in altamonte. kind of a dumpy place, but the food is great! i stuffed my belly with pulled pork, fried...
sweet tomatoes.
alright, i really need to go someplace better. and i have eaten here before, but it was early, i couldn’t think of anywhere else, and it’s been about 5 years. so, off we went. the general idea was to eat breakfast, since it was about 9:45 am. there were a pretty decent amount of offerings, but the ones that were actually good were few and far between. scrambled eggs - awful....
shakers.
so, i made my resolution this year to be one i would actually follow. my goal is to try one new restaurant a week, all year. this works out, because man i like to eat, and i also get bored pretty easily, so this will expand my options.
yesterday, my roommate, jamie, and i had lunch at shakers in college park. (www.shakerscafe.com) it’s not a very big place, but the inside is well organized so a...
